Fit reasons
- NAICS alignment with historical contract wins in similar service areas.
- Scope strongly matches core technical capabilities and delivery model.
Risks
- Past performance thresholds may require one additional teaming partner.
- Potential clarification needed on staffing minimums before bid/no-bid.
Next steps
Validate eligibility requirements, assign capture owner, and schedule partner outreach to confirm teaming strategy before submission planning.
Quick Summary
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Geology, Energy & Minerals Science Center (GEMSC) is seeking to establish a five-year Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) for clumped isotope geochemical analyses of carbonate mineral samples. This opportunity is Full and Open, meaning it is not restricted to small businesses. Quotes are due by March 18, 2026, 10:00 am Pacific Time.
Purpose
The BPA will provide lab sample analysis services for clumped isotope geochemical analyses of carbonate minerals, including rocks, sediments, veins, or fossil specimens. This supports GEMSC projects focused on energy and mineral resources and geologic processes.
Scope of Work
- Primary Analysis: Carbonate clumped isotope analysis (Cap47 and ideally Cap48). Stable carbon (d13C) and oxygen (d18O) isotopic compositions are secondary outputs.
- Sample Analysis: Analyze small samples (<500µg carbonate mineral powder replicates) using high-precision instruments (e.g., Nu Perspective, ThermoFisher MAT253 Plus, or equivalent).
- Mineral Types: Capable of analyzing calcite, dolomite, and ideally magnesite. If magnesite analysis is not possible, instruments must measure CO2 gas from USGS-prepared samples.
- Standards & Reporting: Data calibration must use InterCarb ETH standards and
