The VA Iowa Health Care System requires the purchase of a Brand Name or Equal Thoren Maxi-Miser Caging System – Model No. 9-126-9-14-1-4-5TMGB.

• General Equipment Name: Animal Caging System

• System Capacity: Must hold a minimum of 126 small mouse cages.

• Mobility: Must be on casters.

• Dimensions: Maximum 28”W X 67”L X 84”H.

• Cage Compatibility: Must hold cages sized 7.7” X 12.17” X 5.25” or 7.7” X 12.17” X 5.875”.

• Included Cages: Must include 126 Udel Polysulfone cages or other approved.

• Airflow System: Must have a cage air flow system with dual 99.99% efficient HEPA filters (supply and exhaust) and prefilters.

• Power Requirements: 8 amperes at full load, 120 volts single phase, 60 hertz.

• Noise Level: 5-10 DB range.

• Required Line Items: (1) Vented Animal Caging System, (2) Maintenance Manuals (CD, PDF or Word), (2) User Manuals, (1) Cleaning Instructions.

• Warranty: Minimum one-year manufacturer warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship, with replacement/repair at no cost to the buyer.

Sources Sought Notice

This is a Sources Sought notice to conduct market research for the procurement of a Brand Name or Equal – Thoren Maxi-Miser Caging System (Model No. 9-126-9-14-1-4-5TMGB). The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is seeking to identify potential sources capable of providing this specific system or an equal product. This notice also serves to gauge market interest and ascertain vendor capabilities.

• Vendors must be an Authorized Distributor for Thoren OR an Authorized Distributor for the manufacturer of an equal product.

• Vendors must list any GSA Contract or Federal Supply Schedule with the product/service listed.

• If a firm is a Socio-economic Small Business, they must state if they are a Nonmanufacturer and check applicable boxes related to the Nonmanufacturer Rule.

• An Authorized Distributor Letter from the manufacturer is required if not the manufacturer.

• Vendors are encouraged to provide comments or concerns regarding the DRAFT SOW.

• Responses are due by June 2, 2026, at 17:00 Mountain Time.
