Statement of Work (SOW) / Performance Work Statement (PWS)

To remove approximately one (1) acre of vegetation across three (3) distinct, off-base properties to mitigate bird strike hazards to aviation safety at Sheppard Air Force Base (SAFB). The work is necessary due to Cattle egrets establishing nesting colonies on these properties.

• Remove all unmarked vegetation via cut-stump herbicide treatments. Trees marked for preservation by SAFB officials are to be left in place.

• Mulch all woody debris on-site or arrange for legal off-site disposal.

• Remove and replace approximately 200 feet of engulfed livestock fencing.

• Tree removal methods include skid-steer machinery with hydraulic tree shear/saw or chain saws.

• Herbicide application must use Garlon 4 Ultra Herbicide, mixed with a compatible blue indicator dye, and applied to cut stumps immediately after felling.

• The entire cut surface, cambium, and vertical portions of the stump to ground line must be treated.

• New fence installation requires 39-inch tall, 9-gauge galvanized steel field fence and a single strand of 12.5-gauge, 2-point galvanized barbed wire.

• Cut stumps must be treated with herbicide immediately following felling.

• Woody debris must be mulched on-site or legally disposed of off-site.

• Worksite must be left clean and orderly upon completion.
