Quick Summary
The USDA Forest Service, Boise National Forest, is soliciting proposals for Critical Housing Maintenance Construction at the Crawford Work Center in Valley County, Idaho. This project involves significant remodeling of a barracks and a mess hall. This is a Total Small Business Set-Aside. Proposals are due April 02, 2026, at 5 p.m. MST.
Scope of Work
The project focuses on deferred maintenance and renovation of two buildings:
- Building 1199 (Crawford Barracks): Convert 5 shared bedrooms into 9 individual bedrooms and a laundry room. Remodel one bathroom into two accessible bathrooms. Work includes constructing partition walls, installing new doors, light fixtures, baseboard heaters, blinds, and a washer/dryer setup. All flooring will be replaced with LVP, drywall patched, and interiors painted. Snow guards and a new electronic front door lock will be installed.
- Building 1606 (Crawford Mess Hall): Remodel bathrooms and bedrooms, including removing existing fixtures, constructing partition walls, installing new doors, baseboards, wall heaters, lights, and LVP flooring. A new laundry room will be created with connections for a fridge, washer, and dryer, including a new stacked unit, on-demand hot water heater, and mop basin. Existing cabinets will be moved, the vent hood and window blinds replaced, and interiors painted. Snow guards will also be installed.
- Site Work: Includes removing existing porch roof, concrete stairs, and a wood boardwalk, followed by constructing new concrete sidewalks and installing a propane tank, pad, and lines.
Key clarifications from vendor questions include: interior work is restricted from April 15th to October 31st due to seasonal employee occupancy; the contractor is responsible for moving furniture; hazardous materials will be handled via change order; and only blinds are being replaced, not existing windows. In case of discrepancies, the Statement of Work (SOW) supersedes drawings, which supersede specifications.
