Quick Summary
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is conducting a Sources Sought / Request for Information (RFI) to gather industry feedback on potential strategies for Healthcare Provider Credentialing and Privileging Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and Credentialing-as-a-Service (CaaS). This RFI aims to inform future acquisition strategies to improve provider onboarding, ensure continuous credential monitoring, and maintain compliance. Responses are due April 3, 2026.
Purpose & Scope
This RFI seeks industry input on two distinct approaches:
- Healthcare Provider Credentialing and Privileging SaaS: The VA is exploring an enterprise-wide, fully electronic SaaS platform for the entire credentialing and privileging lifecycle. This solution should be commercially available, require minimal customization, and integrate technology, automation, and compliance workflows. Key requirements include secure electronic systems, automated credential display, timely processing (5 days for new, 120 days for existing), 100% Joint Commission compliance, 99% verification accuracy, continuous monitoring, data migration, and FedRAMP compliance. The attached 'DRAFT- Credentialing and Privileging_RTM.xlsx' provides detailed functional and non-functional requirements.
- Credentialing-as-a-Service (CaaS): The VA is also considering partnering with a credentialing service organization to manage full-spectrum credentialing operations. This would involve a comprehensive, fully electronic solution supported by qualified personnel for obtaining, verifying, and assessing provider qualifications. Key requirements mirror the SaaS option regarding timeliness, compliance, accuracy, and continuous monitoring for over 250,000 providers.
