Scope of Work
The project requires a State of Maryland licensed well driller to perform the following:
- Decommissioning: Properly abandon the old well by filling it with dry bentonite and capping, in accordance with Maryland state regulations. A Water Well Abandonment-Sealing Report must be completed.
- New Well Installation: Drill a new well (4.5-inch casing, 500-900 feet deep) within 50 feet of the existing well house's northwest side. The new well must yield a minimum of 10 gallons per minute (GPM) and utilize a Type 304 stainless steel commercial pump screen.
- Equipment Installation: Install a 1.5-2 HP pump, two new contractor-furnished pressure tanks, associated piping, and electrical connections.
- Testing & Certification: Conduct a final pumping test for 6 hours at 10 GPM (as clarified by Q&A) and obtain a Certificate of Potability (COP) from the Charles County Health Department.
- Site Restoration: Clean the work site daily and restore it to pre-construction conditions. On-site disposal of drilling fluids and spoils is approved.
- Compliance: Adherence to all federal, state, and local codes, including OSHA and EM 385-1-1. An Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) are required. Contractors must also comply with NRL's on-site requirements for access, security, and environmental management, and prevailing wage rates (Davis-Bacon Act).
