Quick Summary
The Department of the Army (W075 ENDIST LOS ANGELES) has issued a Presolicitation for the construction of a Hangar/Aircraft Maintenance Unit at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona. This project involves constructing a two-bay aircraft hangar, associated maintenance facilities, airfield pavements, and demolishing existing structures. The estimated construction value is between $75M and $125M. This is a Full and Open Competition, with the intent to award a Firm-Fixed-Price Design-Bid-Build (DBB) contract based on best value.
Scope of Work
The project encompasses the construction of a two-bay aircraft hangar with a concrete foundation, steel high bay, standing seam metal roof, cranes, and motorized doors. It will include a fire alarm/suppression system with water storage tanks. The facility will house all necessary spaces for an aircraft maintenance unit, such as administrative areas, tool rooms, supply/bench stock, storage, shop areas, emergency showers, locker rooms, and a break area. Additionally, a fleet service terminal for transient alert functions will be included, along with overhead covered storage for mobility barn and maintenance squadron.
Extensive airfield pavement work is required to provide hangar access, including clearing, excavation, base material placement, concrete pavement, asphalt shoulders, markings, storm water retention, drainage, and lighting, all integrated into a new airfield apron. The project also includes a 500kW generator and the demolition of two existing buildings (4809 and 4826). All supporting facilities, utilities, communications, parking, sidewalks, passive force protection, and site improvements will be provided. Facilities must be designed as permanent construction per DoD Unified Facilities Criteria and comply with antiterrorism/force protection requirements.
