Quick Summary
The Department of the Air Force, through AFMC, has issued a Presolicitation for the Elevation Gearbox Assembly for the GLOBUS-X radar system. This critical acquisition aims to procure two (2) new, built-to-print elevation gearbox spares to mitigate the risk of catastrophic failure of the existing, worn gearboxes at an Outside Continental United States (OCONUS) location. The effort will require Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) based on a Government-provided technical data package. The solicitation is anticipated to be posted on or around April 7, 2026.
Scope of Work
The GLOBUS Program supports critical radar and communications systems. The GLOBUS-X system currently relies on worn elevation gearboxes, originally manufactured in 1993, with limited spares. There is only one (1) elevation gearbox at the operational site. Due to unique operating conditions and system-specific design, these gearboxes are incompatible with other programs, necessitating dedicated spares. This acquisition is for the procurement of two (2) new elevation gearbox spares. Suppliers will be required to produce these gearboxes built-to-print in accordance with a technical data package provided by the USG, which will involve Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE).
