Questions & Answers / Clarifications

This document provides clarifications and responses to questions submitted by subcontractors regarding the Giese Road Reconstruction project (Fermilab RFP #380034GMK).

• General Clarification: Culvert replacement work must adhere to USACE Nationwide Permit 14 conditions, including performing work in the dry and submitting a Dewatering plan. No disturbance of stream or vegetation upstream of the delineated limit is permitted.
• Culvert Diameters:
  • Culverts crossing Kautz Rd are 24" dia, RCP pipes.
  • Culverts along Kautz Rd (east side ditch) are 12" dia, CMP pipes.
  • The culvert on Giese Rd (north side ditch) is 21" RCP Pipe.
• Kautz Road Traffic Management: Kautz Road can be closed for a limited time for aggregate subbase and base course installation. It should be open to traffic for HMA binder and surface courses. Closures must be coordinated in advance and should not interfere with Fermilab activities. Detour signs must be provided and installed per the Detour Plan.
