Quick Summary

The Department of the Air Force, under the Department of Defense, is conducting a Sources Sought market research effort for FY26 Airfield Runway Taxiway Light Removal at Kelly Field, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, TX. This initiative aims to identify qualified contractors capable of removing and reinstalling airfield runway and taxiway lights and signs to facilitate the B-52 RADAR Modernization Program. Responses are due by March 18, 2026, at 1:00 PM CST.

Purpose & Scope of Work

This market research seeks to identify contractors for the removal and reinstallation of airfield lighting and signage to ensure safe aircraft operations, specifically for the B-52H Radar Modernization Program. The contractor will be responsible for ensuring the B-52 has access to the runway from the Boeing ramp and restoring all lights and signs to their original condition.

Key tasks include:

  • Uninstalling and removing sixty (60) raised lights along Runway 16/34 and thirty-eight (38) raised lights near the Boeing ramp.
  • Uninstalling and removing two (2) runway exit signs.
  • Laying down six (6) signs on Taxiway E.
  • Replacing raised lights and signs after B-52 aircraft utilization.
  • Repairing any lights/signs found inoperable after reinstallation or damaged during the contract, including replenishing government stock with identical parts.

The B-52 path will be from the Boeing Ramp to Taxiway Echo, crossing Taxiway Alpha, and staying on Taxiway Echo to the runway.
