Statement of Work (SOW) / Performance Work Statement (PWS)

To procure firewood for a steam locomotive at the Golden Spike National Historical Park.

• Furnish and deliver sixty (60) tons of firewood for the base requirement.

• Optional quantity: An additional twenty (20) tons may be procured.

• Firewood specifications:

  • Soft woods only (Pine, Redwood, Larch, Cedar, Hemlock, Spruce, Whitewood, Fir).
  • Minimum Length: 2 feet, Maximum Length: 3 feet.
  • Cut and dried for a minimum of one (1) year.
  • Moisture content not to exceed 15% (tested with Delmhorst Model J-2000).
  • Minimum diameter: 6 inches, Maximum diameter: 24 inches.

• Deliveries must be made in a self-unloading vehicle or trailer.

• Deliveries not meeting specifications or containing excessive debris will be refused at the contractor's expense.

• Delivery requested between March 16, 2026, and July 31, 2026.

• Deliveries must occur no later than one week from the date of request.

• Delivery hours: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. MDT, Monday through Friday.

• Delivery Location: Golden Spike National Historical Park, 6200 N. 22300 W., Promontory Summit, UT 84302.

• Contractors shall quote a price per ton for the base requirement (60 tons) and the optional quantity (20 tons), inclusive of delivery and fuel surcharges.

• Payment will be made on actual quantities delivered and accepted.

• Contractor shall furnish weigh tickets from state-certified scales.

• Deliveries will be requested in 10-20 ton increments.

• A "Wood Check-In Sheet" will be used for recording delivery details, including moisture percentages and species. Averages above 30% moisture content will result in refusal of the load (Note: This appears to be a discrepancy with the 15% specification for individual pieces; the 30% average is noted from the form).

Solicitation / RFP / RFQ

This is a combined synopsis/solicitation (RFQ 140P1426Q0030) issued by the National Park Service (NPS) for Golden Spike National Historical Park (GOSP). The NPS is requesting the purchase and delivery of sixty (60) tons of locomotive firewood. This is a firm fixed-price contract.
