Purpose & Scope
The objective is to acquire an inflatable hangar door plug system to create a thermal and weather seal around a C-17 aircraft fuselage within Hangar 714 North. This system will resolve air gap issues caused by the hangar's C-5 configured doors, enabling year-round C-17 maintenance operations and protecting hangar infrastructure. The primary deliverable is one (1) unit of this inflatable hangar door plug system, classified under PSC J039 (Maintenance, Repair And Rebuilding Of Equipment: Materials Handling Equipment).
Key Requirements
The system must effectively seal the aperture between the hangar doors and a C-17 fuselage. Installation requires a bolt-on, corrosion-resistant aluminum keder rail system, with plug edges featuring a reinforced Keder seam for secure retention. Installation must not impede normal hangar door operation and should be performable by two people without specialized training. Performance standards include full inflation in under 3 minutes, an operating temperature range of -22°F to 158°F, and resistance to wind loads up to 50 MPH without damage or deflation. The fabric must meet or exceed NFPA 701 fire retardancy standards. The inflation blower must be electrically safe (110V AC), guarded, and include a pressure relief valve. Materials must be high-strength, lightweight, fire-retardant, and resistant to puncture, UV, and aviation fluids. The entire system package must not exceed 85 kg (187 lbs) and dimensions of approximately 100cm x 80cm x 70cm for portability and storage. A minimum 12-month warranty for parts and labor is required. The kit must include the inflatable plug, electric blower, keder rails, mounting hardware, storage bag, on-site repair kit, and weatherproof instructions.
