Quick Summary
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), under the Department of the Interior, is seeking contractors for a Total Small Business Set-Aside solicitation to repair a damaged public boat ramp at the Port Louisa National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) in Wapello, IA. This project involves removing and replacing a degraded concrete boat ramp section to the Mississippi River. Quotes are due March 27, 2026, at 3:00 PM EST.
Purpose & Background
The opportunity addresses a damaged and degraded public boat ramp at the Louisa Division of the refuge. Due to low river levels, concrete degradation and exposed rebar are accelerating, presenting a property hazard to users. Refuge staff currently monitor the ramp weekly to ensure its continued use, and this repair is critical to mitigate the hazard and maintain access.
Scope of Work
The project requires contractors to:
- Demo and remove approximately 8' x 28' of damaged concrete and rebar from the existing boat ramp slab.
- Construct a new concrete slab of the same dimensions (8' x 28' x 6") using high-strength 4,000 psi or greater concrete.
- Prepare the bedding using a backhoe/excavator.
- Fabricate forms and install new rebar.
- Pour new concrete and embed traction bars.
- All necessary materials, equipment, and labor are included in the contractor's scope.
