Scope of Work
The selected contractor will provide one qualified Industrial Hygiene consultant to perform a range of services, including:
- Routine safety, occupational health, and environmental exposure assessments.
- Noise monitoring and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) recommendations for hearing conservation.
- Annual qualitative and quantitative respirator fit testing.
- Development and maintenance of a comprehensive radiation safety program.
- Rapid, 24/7 on-call response to safety, occupational health, and environmental concerns, including hazardous materials incidents.
- Annual reviews of existing Safety, Occupational Health, and Environmental Management (SHEM) Unit programs.
- Serving as the primary point of contact for the Occupational Medical Surveillance Program (OMSP) enrollment.
- Annual industrial hygiene inspections of laboratories, facilities, and administrative spaces.
- Acting as the Chemical Hygiene Officer (CHO), managing chemical inventory, and overseeing the Chemical Hygiene Plan.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
The consultant is expected to work 40 hours per week, onsite Monday through Friday, with potential for adjusted schedules for non-standard hours or emergencies. Required qualifications include:
- A bachelor's degree in a STEM field (chemistry, biology, physics, environmental engineering, or similar).
- Minimum 4 years of professional, full-time experience in industrial hygiene, with Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) accreditation highly desired.
- Demonstrated hands-on knowledge of various industrial hygiene monitoring instruments.
- Personnel will require a background check and PIV card.

Additional Notes
The Government will provide or rent all necessary industrial hygiene equipment, including sampling devices, and will cover calibration, maintenance, sampling media, and lab analysis. No Maryland-specific training is required for the Radiation Safety Officer role at this federal facility. A part-time Industrial Hygienist will not be considered a substitute for one full-time CIH. Routine weekend work and 24/7 on-call support are not expected, but the IH may be called in for emergencies or agreed-upon sampling needs. All offerors must be actively registered in SAM.gov.
