Quick Summary
The Department of the Air Force is soliciting proposals for McConnell AFB Tire Carriers to acquire four aircraft tire carriers for shipping KC-46 and KC-135 main and nose tires for deployments. This opportunity is a Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Program Set-Aside. Proposals are due May 1, 2026, at 11:30 AM CT.
Scope of Work
The 22nd LRS requires four aircraft tire carriers designed to properly ship KC-46 and KC-135 main and nose tires. These carriers must be airworthy on both aircraft types and not exceed 463L pallet dimensions (88"x108" and no higher than 60"). Each carrier must store six main tires and two nose tires, supporting an approximate weight of 1400 lbs. Key design features include an opening side that drops to act as a ramp, a secure and lockable latch, and a 1-foot interior indenture to prevent tire movement.
Material specifications require A36 mild steel with 1/8" thickness. The coating system must be a high-quality, black, industrial-rate metal base primer with a rust-resistant enamel paint (gloss finish), capable of sustaining adverse weather and resisting salt water damage. Shop drawings are required for approval prior to fabrication.
