Scope of Work
This project involves the demolition of two existing earth-covered munition storage igloos (5145 SF total) and the construction of two new Earth Covered Magazines (ECM). Each new ECM will be 80 feet long by 25 feet wide (2000 SF), based on Standard Design 421-80-08 REV1. The scope includes:
- Site work: Regrading for positive drainage, new hardstand, concrete, and bollards.
- Systems installation: Concrete access pavement, communications, security systems, and utility electrical connections.
- Hazardous materials: Potential presence in existing structures requiring proper disposal.
- Operational requirements: Work within the Munitions Storage Area (MSA) requiring escorts and coordination for access and material inspections.
- Compliance: Adherence to DoD safety standards (DoDM 4145.26), UFC 4-420-01, and DDESB requirements.
- Experience: Firms should demonstrate experience with specialized concrete, earth-covered magazines, lightning protection, ventilation, heavy-duty doors, hazardous material storage safety, and environmental coordination.
