PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The Wilson Campground Road Project is located along Wilson Campground Road, 83 miles northwest of Elko, Nevada. The road is located completely within theBureau of Land Management (BLM) Wilson Reservoir Recreation Management Area and is primarily used to access the Wilson Campground Recreation Area on the north end of the project. The need for the project is to improve safety, increase visitor usage, and enhance the driving experience.
SCOPE OF THE WORK:
The project is comprised of a 7.23-mile aggregate surfaced road along Wilson Campground Road. The proposed improvements as part of this project include resurfacing the existing roads, site distance improvements including an alignment shift along an existing S-curve area, cattle guard adjustments, drainage improvements, minor bridge repairs, and signing replacements.
Based on available funding and construction cost analyzed during the scoping phase, the project has been broken into a schedule (Schedule A) and an option(Option X). Schedule A consists of resurfacing the 6.21 miles of aggregate road leading towards the campground facilities, multiple hydraulic improvements, and the S curve area improvements. Option X consists of resurfacing the 1.01 miles of aggregate road leading towards the campground facilities, minor bridge repairs, and multiple hydraulic improvements.
