This document provides answers to questions submitted by potential vendors regarding the RFI for Systems Parts and Components for Office Furniture Manufacturing (RFI0027-26).

• Dimensions: A spreadsheet with preferred or standard widths for panel systems, overheads, and work surfaces is attached. Units are in inches.
• RFI Results: Results of the RFI and interested vendors will not be publicly posted.
• Certifications/Requirements: Specific certifications (e.g., ISO 9001, ANSI-Bifma) and performance requirements will be detailed in the actual solicitation, not this RFI.
• "Components" Definition: "Components" can refer to either finished parts for field assembly or unfinished parts for UNICOR's manufacturing process. UNICOR will use these components in office furniture manufacturing.
• Delivery Timeframe: Delivery is 21 calendar days and is not negotiable at this time. Liquidated damages will be addressed in the solicitation.
• Product Compatibility: Compatibility with UNICOR's existing products will be addressed in the solicitation.
• Vendor Type: The solicitation will clarify if manufacturer-direct, dealers, or distribution agents are sought.
• Specification Tools: Requirements for providing specification tools will be addressed in the solicitation.
• Variances: The solicitation will address whether variances from typical workstation configurations are acceptable.
• Product/Pricing Coverage: The solicitation will address whether awardees must provide products/pricing for all items in the RFI. There will be no awardee from this RFI.

This amendment clarifies vendor questions, with most specific requirements (certifications, compatibility, vendor type, etc.) deferred to the future solicitation. It confirms that no award will be made as a result of this RFI.

Request for Information (RFI)

This RFI is issued by UNICOR, Federal Prison Industries, Inc. (FPI), Office Furniture Group, to gather information on potential contractors capable of providing system parts and components for furniture manufacturing. This RFI is for market research purposes only and will be used to develop an acquisition strategy; it will not result in a contract.

UNICOR FPI is seeking information on the following:

• Company Name, Telephone Number, and Email Address
• Company Profile
• Business Size (Large, Small, Socio Economic Category)
• ISO 9001 certification or other certifications
• Capability to meet ANSI Bifma Standard
• Ability to provide independent testing reports
• Any other pertinent information

The information sought pertains to system parts and components used in the manufacture of office furniture, specifically for wood case goods and metal filing cabinets. The document lists several furniture configurations (Monolithic A-D, Freestanding Modular Desking A-B, Segmented B-D, Freestanding w/Legs A-D, Benching) for which components are needed.

• Questions Deadline: Written questions must be submitted to peyton.perry@usdoj.gov no later than 2:00 pm Thursday, February 5, 2026. No phone calls will be accepted.

• All information provided is considered confidential.

• This is NOT an offer, and responses do not obligate UNICOR to a contract.

• Costs incurred in preparing a response are the sole responsibility of the respondent.

• Submitted responses become the property of UNICOR OFG.

• Prospective offerors must be registered in SAM.gov before any award can be made (once a solicitation is issued).

• Delivery for any future contract is stated as 21 days.
