Quick Summary
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), specifically the National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS) Office of Satellite Product Operations (OSPO), is conducting a Sources Sought / Request for Information (RFI) for OM5 Fiber Optic Cable Installation at the NOAA Satellite Operations Facility (NSOF) in Suitland, MD. This RFI is for market research purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation. Responses are due by February 10, 2026, at 8:00 PM EST.
Purpose
This RFI is issued solely for information and planning purposes to determine if sources exist that are capable of satisfying NOAA's requirements for OM5 fiber optic cable installation and if suitable commercial items are available. It is not a solicitation, Request for Proposal (RFP), or Request for Quotation (RFQ), and no award will be made as a result of this notice. The Government will not pay for any information submitted.
Scope of Work
NOAA NESDIS OSPO requires the installation of OM5 Multimode Fiber Optic Cabling in various communications rooms and locations throughout the NSOF in Suitland, MD. The requirement includes a total of 20 fiber optic runs across approximately five separate locations. The fiber optic cable must be armored, 50-micron multimode, and comply with UL 1666 (OFNR) or UL 910 (OFNP) ratings. Cables are to be pre-terminated with LC-LC duplex connectors, ensuring quick connect/disconnect at patch panels. Specific run lengths and strand counts for each location (e.g., COM1A to COM2A, COM2A to COM2B, etc.) are detailed in the RFI. Contractors must install system components and appurtenances according to manufacturer instructions and provide all interconnections, services, and adjustments for a complete and operable data transmission system.
