The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Pittsburgh District, is carrying out a Project at Pike Island Locks and Dam, Ohio River, Belmont County, West Virginia. The work is located on both the Main Lock Chamber and the Auxiliary Lock Chamber, downstream of each of the downstream miter gates at the poiree dam location. The site of the work may be reached from state and local roads and streets, however, floating plant support may be required for some features of work. The general description of the work is to furnish all equipment, labor, layout of work, and supervision to prepare the site for future installation of downstream bulkhead recesses by others. This work includes coring holes in the concrete, wiresawing of concrete, on both the vertical and horizontal faces of the lock monoliths, to the extent shown in the plans. Portions of this work will occur underwater.  Concrete coring work will be performed in the 110-FT by 1200-FT main lock chamber, and the 110-FT by 600 FT auxiliary lock chamber, specifically at the monoliths adjacent to the Poiree dam sill. The work will involve both vertical and horizontal coring of concrete.  In addition to concrete coring, concrete wiresawing work will be performed in the 110-FT by 600-FT auxiliary lock chamber only, at the location where the concrete coring was executed.
