Scope of Work
The contractor will provide fuels management services, specifically cutting and piling pinyon and juniper trees. This includes trees with a diameter at breast height (DBH) of 12 inches or less, as well as existing standing dead and dead/down material. Stumps must be cut to 4 inches or less. All cut trees will be hand-piled according to specific dimensions (10 feet wide by 10 feet tall, not exceeding 12x12 feet) and spacing requirements (at least 10 feet from standing trees, and 50 feet from private land, survey monuments, power lines, and drainages). Piles should be located on old chaining debris where possible. An Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) of 85 percent Work Quality Level is required, with government inspections and random 1-acre plot evaluations.

- Period of Performance: Work may begin July 16, 2026, and must be completed by November 30, 2026. Work is prohibited between December 15 and July 15 due to big game and migratory bird timing. An exception allows work between September 16, 2026, and March 14, 2027, if the Palmer Drought Severity Index is severe, extreme, or exceptional on July 1st.

Special Requirements & Notes
Contractors are responsible for providing all equipment, fuel, and personnel, including a GPS capable of accepting GPX files and an English-speaking representative on-site. Equipment must be cleaned of noxious weeds. Compliance with the Service Contract Act Wage Determination for Colorado Statewide is mandatory for labor costs. The BLM will provide a GPS GPX file, detailed maps, on-site orientation, and flag avoidance areas.
