The facilities must be engineered for the sub-arctic climate, addressing permafrost, snow loads, and extreme temperatures. Key features include specialized foundations (e.g., thermosiphon), structural steel frames with insulated panels rated for -50F, ASHRAE 90.1 compliant building envelopes, triple-pane windows, and cold-weather electrical systems.
