Scope of Work
The selected contractor will serve as the Musician, Choir Director, and Organist, responsible for:
- Providing instrumentation for all music associated with worship services, including preludes, postludes, congregational singing, and anthems.
- Coordinating music selections with the Pastor and developing/promoting the chapel's music ministry program.
- Integrating and encouraging volunteer musicians.
- Planning instrumental music for regular and special services at the Marine Memorial Chapel or designated locations.
- Providing all necessary instruments, with the exception of the chapel organs and piano.
- Recommending music and providing instrumentation for funerals and memorial services, and supporting specific events like Ash Wednesday and Good Friday services.
- Recommending maintenance for chapel organs and piano.
Key Qualifications & Requirements
Contractors must possess:
- At least five years of current experience as an organist.
- Demonstrated vocal skills, keyboard proficiency, and sight-reading ability.
- American Guild of Organists (AGO) certification (basic level) and formal organ training.
- Proficiency in music harmonization.
- The ability to provide a satisfactory substitute when unable to perform services.
- Contractor personnel must complete a background check and register in the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) prior to entry.
