Scope of Work
This requirement focuses on mechanical fuels reduction and seeding within pinyon-juniper forests. Key tasks include:
- Mastication/Mulching: Processing live juniper and piñon pine (<15.1" DSH), live/dead sage, dead/down woody material (>3" diameter), dead standing snags (<15.1" DSH), mountain mahogany and service berry bushes (to 1-3 ft), and gamble oak (<3" DSH, to 1-3 ft). Stumps must be three inches or less in height. Specific exclusions apply to yuca, large cacti, and culturally altered trees. Mulched material should be evenly dispersed, with an average depth not exceeding six inches.
- Seeding: To be conducted prior to thinning, using government-provided seed mixed to desired species ratios and dispersed at 10 lbs per acre.
- Leave Trees: Contractors must avoid cutting trees with signs, survey markers, wildlife nests/cavities, or those along fence lines with attached wire.
