To provide Intraoperative NeuroMonitoring (IONM) services and equipment to eligible veterans at the VA San Diego Healthcare System on an as-needed basis. The primary goal is to reduce the risk of iatrogenic damage to the nervous system during surgical procedures and to provide functional guidance to the surgical team.

• Provide IONM services and all necessary equipment, supplies, and labor.

• Perform a range of tasks including Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR), Visual Evoked Response (VER), Somatosensory Evoked Potential (SEP or SSEP), Electroencephalography (EEG), Electromyography (EMG), Nerve Conduction Studies, and operate specific IONM equipment.

• Position patients, attach electrodes, monitor nerve impulses, and alert the surgeon to potential dangers.

• Provide continuous, real-time neurophysiologic oversight and clinical interpretation remotely.

• Collaborate with the surgical team and anesthesiologist.

• Perform clerical duties, direct patient contact, and telephone contact with medical providers.

• Attend meetings and participate in performance improvement activities as requested.

• Provide healthcare services to eligible VA Beneficiaries at the VA San Diego Healthcare System.

• Services must meet or exceed current recognized National Standards established by The Joint Commission (TJC).

• Personnel must be technically proficient, able to speak, understand, read, and write English fluently.

• Compliance with all applicable VA Medical Center written policies, procedures, and protocols.

• Personnel must be experienced and versed in the operation of all monitoring equipment.

• Quality assurance and performance monitoring will be conducted to ensure compliance.

• Services are scheduled and provided on an as-needed basis throughout the contract period.

• Personnel qualifications include specific educational degrees (Master's/Doctorate in Audiology, M.D., D.O.) and certifications (CNIM, DABNM, ABPN, ABCN, ABEM).

• Personnel must have current, valid, unrestricted licenses as applicable.
