The requirement involves the comprehensive recertification and refurbishment of FNAL 477 High Pressure Tube Trailers. Key tasks include:

  • Performing Department of Transportation (DOT) recertification tests for tubes.
  • Inspecting and potentially replacing burst disks, along with providing certificates and test results.
  • Addressing defective tubes, with options for plugging, rerouting manifolds, or complete replacement subject to approval.
  • Refurbishing mechanical components such as the 5th wheel plate, pin, wheels, wheel bearings, and brakes.
  • Sandblasting and painting the chassis, cabinet, and tubes white.
  • Refurbishing the valve cabinet and manifold, including appropriate pressure and temperature gauges.
  • Conducting pressure testing on piping per ASME B31.3 and ensuring welding compliance with ASME B31.3 requirements.
  • Applying specified DOT diamond product labels (UN-1046), safety warnings, and "FERMILAB", "HELIUM, COMPRESSED", and "FNAL 477" lettering.
  • Installing TEST and DUE date labels and a data plate with trailer information.
  • Shipping the trailer sealed with dry inert gas after recertification. All services must comply with applicable codes, standards, DOT regulations, and ASME B31.3.
