Scope of Work
This solicitation is for the manufacture of shipping and storage containers in accordance with Container Research Corporation drawing number (05259) 882E001, Revision LATEST, and all referenced specifications. Key requirements include:
- Material: Aluminum container shell.
- Manufacturing Standards: Compliance with IPC/EIAJ-STD-001C if MIL-STD-454 is referenced.
- Welding: Adherence to AWS D1.1, D1.2, D1.3, D1.6, or MIL-W-22248 Class 4 standards, with specific filler materials for aluminum alloys. Detailed work instructions, material controls, and cleaning protocols are specified.

Evaluation & First Article Testing (FAT)
- Source Approval: New manufacturers require engineering source approval by the design activity. Contact the buyer for Source Approval Request procedures.
- Pre-Award/Post-Award: A pre-award survey and post-award conference may be required for new manufacturers due to the item's critical use and quality history.
- FAT Requirements: Offerors must submit one (1) unit of CAGE (05259) Part Number 882E001 within 120 calendar days of contract award for testing. The estimated government testing cost is $10,000, which will be added to offerors' prices for solicitation purposes. FAT includes dimensional tests, leak tests (initial and final), and an 18-inch free fall drop test. The government will notify the contractor of approval/disapproval within 90 days of receipt.
- FAT Waiver: A waiver of FAT may be granted for offerors who have previously furnished identical production articles accepted by the Government or OEM within three years, provided the production location is the same. Offerors requesting a waiver must submit two prices (with and without FAT) and a certification.
