Quick Summary
The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Strategic Materials Directorate has issued a Request for Information (RFI) for planning purposes only, seeking industry capabilities for the potential acquisition of specialized low alpha tin. This involves the reprocess/re-melt of 1,978 MT of Long Horn brand tin ingot (Grade A 99.80%) into Min 99.999% Sn for addition into the National Defense Stockpile. Responses are due March 19, 2026, by 3:00 PM EST.

The DLA is conducting market research to identify sources capable of re-melting and refining existing tin ingot into high-purity, low alpha tin. The exact elemental specifications and form are yet to be determined, but the target purity is a minimum of 99.999% Sn. This material is intended to bolster the National Defense Stockpile.
