- Material: QQ-N-286, Form 2 or Form 7 Annealed and Age Hardened, with weld repair explicitly disallowed on this material.
- Testing & Certification: Quantitative chemical and mechanical analysis, annealing and age hardening certifications, and ultrasonic inspection on starting material. Slow Strain Rate Tensile Tests must be performed by pre-approved laboratories.
- Quality Assurance: Adherence to ISO-9001 (or MIL-I-45208) quality systems, with calibration per ISO-10012 or ANSI-Z540.3 with ISO-17025. The contractor's quality system and products are subject to Government evaluation and inspection.
- Traceability & Configuration Control: Strict material traceability from raw material to final product, including unique marking per MIL-STD-792. Comprehensive configuration control, including procedures for waivers, deviations, and Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), is required.
