Quick Summary
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), under the Department of the Interior, is soliciting proposals for the installation of a Government-furnished 500 kW Kohler Diesel Generator at the Jones Hole National Fish Hatchery in Vernal, Utah. This is a Total Small Business Set-Aside opportunity. An amendment has been issued providing critical clarifications and responses to vendor questions. Proposals are due by February 5, 2026, at 5 p.m. EST.
Scope of Work
This Firm-Fixed-Price construction contract requires the installation of a new 500 kW Kohler Diesel Generator System (Model 500REOZJC) as a standby/emergency power source. The contractor will provide all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision for:
- Site Preparation: Modifying the concrete pad, providing underground conduit for power, controls, and grounding, ensuring ventilation clearances, and setting the generator in place.
- Electrical Installation: Installing and terminating AC power cables, connecting to the existing grounding system, installing generator control wiring, and integrating the APM603 control system with the facility's emergency power transfer switch. This includes potentially installing an 800 Amp Disconnect and an alarm autodialer/remote monitoring system.
- Testing & Commissioning: Completing factory startup procedures, performing load testing, and testing alarms and safeties.
- Training & Documentation: Providing an on-site overview of the new installation.
Key Clarifications (Amendment 0001 & Q&A)
- The generator is already on-site, weighs approximately 14,000 pounds, and will require a crane for relocation.
- Only a 6'x8'x1' section on the north end of the existing concrete pad needs removal and replacement for communications wiring; the existing pad is otherwise sufficient with an extension connected via doweling.
- Circuit protection (a 500 amp, 3 pole reducing breaker) at the generator is acceptable to prevent overloading, allowing reuse of existing conductors.
- A certified Kohler installer must be on the job to maintain the Kohler warranty.
- Load testing will be coordinated with Moon Lake Power Company, not performed by the generator supplier.
