Quick Summary

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) is soliciting proposals for a Firm Fixed Price Construction contract to refinish the exterior wood surfaces of the Visitors Center at the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge in Soldotna, Alaska. This opportunity is a Total Small Business Set-Aside with an estimated contract value between $25,000 and $100,000. Offers are due by April 24, 2026, at 5:00 PM PDT.

Scope of Work

The contractor will provide all materials, labor, equipment, and supervision to clean and refinish exposed exterior wood surfaces of the Visitors Center. This includes wood siding, wood soffits, wood trim, and turned log posts. Specific areas include 6 turned log posts at the front entrance, 4 at the rear patio, approximately 890 sq ft of horizontal soffit, and 1500 sq ft of vertical siding. The contractor is responsible for measuring exact surface areas.

Cleaning involves using a biodegradable non-chlorine bleach solution to remove deteriorated finishes, mold, mildew, and dirt. Finishing requires applying three coats of penetrating waterborne oil (e.g., Nature's Edge, Sikkens Wood Finishes, or equal). Protection of all adjacent surfaces (doors, windows, metal, concrete) from damage is mandatory, with the contractor responsible for any repairs. Final site clean-up and debris disposal at an approved landfill are also required.
