• Overhead Booms: Existing Locations / Rooms Affected: The SOW indicated structural supports for overhead booms and related utility relocations. The amendment clarifies that this requirement is NOT necessary for this project.
• Existing Radiation Shielding Documentation for Adjacent Areas: The SOW included radiological shielding requirements. The amendment clarifies that this requirement is NOT necessary for this project.

No changes to proposal deadlines or submission requirements are indicated. Bidders should note that the two specified requirements are no longer applicable.

Solicitation / RFP / RFQ

This is a Request for SF330s (Architect/Engineer Design Services) for the "Renovate Restrooms" project at the Durham Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The project aims to renovate/relocate existing restrooms and locker rooms in Building 1 and Building 23 to ensure compliance with ADA standards.

• Design services including Schematics, Design Development, Construction Documents, Technical Specifications, Construction Period Services, Site Visits, Cost Estimates, and As-Built Documentation.

• Study all restrooms in Building 1 and 23 to meet current VA ADA standards.

• Upgrade a minimum of 2 patient/public restrooms/locker rooms per floor in each building to be ADA compliant.

• Add grab bars where required.

• Insulate exposed sink piping in public/patient restrooms/locker rooms.

• Include asbestos sampling and air monitoring.

• Update finishes and toilet partitions as needed.

Statement of Work (SOW) / Performance Work Statement (PWS)

To provide Professional Architect/Engineer (A/E) services to renovate and/or relocate existing restrooms and locker rooms in Building 1 and Building 23 of the Durham VA Healthcare Center to ensure compliance with ADA standards for accessibility.

• Site Investigation: Conduct a comprehensive investigation of existing conditions, including structural, architectural, interior design, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, electrical, and environmental hazards (e.g., asbestos, lead). This includes pre-TAB of HVAC systems and electrical power investigations.

• Design Development: Prepare conceptual design, interim design documents, and final construction documents. The design must meet VA ADA standards and address specific requirements such as additional grab bars, insulation of exposed sink piping, and potential updates to finishes.

• Power Assist Hardware: Include power assist hardware in restrooms, particularly on the 7th floor, as funding allows.

• Phasing: Consider phasing to minimize disruption to hospital operations.

• Construction Period Services: Review submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and provide recommendations. Services include third-party asbestos monitoring and commissioning.

• Site Visits: Conduct site visits as requested by the COR, including an estimate of ten visits during construction.
