Quick Summary

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), through its OFC OF ACQUSITION GRANTS-NATIONAL, is soliciting proposals for the renovation of Well No. 1 at the Columbia Environmental Research Center (CERC) in Columbia, MO. This project aims to restore the well's pumping capacity, which has significantly decreased due to biological buildup. This is a 100% Small Business Set-Aside. Proposals are due by February 18, 2026, at 1700 CST.

Scope of Work

The contractor will provide all materials, labor, equipment, travel, and supervision to recondition and update Well No. 1. Key tasks include:

  • Temporary removal and permanent reinstallation of the vertical turbine pump and motor.
  • Installation of a temporary submersible pump for debris and fill evacuation.
  • Airburst treatment to loosen debris and removal of all fill from the well bottom.
  • CERC-approved disinfection treatment.
  • Installation of a 10" check valve and an automatic PVC drain line.
  • Installation of a drain back valve and a new reverse ratchet assembly on the 200hp motor.
  • Installation of two 6-inch flow meters on the discharge pipes, integrated into the Automated Logic system. The work must comply with manufacturer recommendations and accepted industry practices, with a 12-month warranty on materials and workmanship.
