Quick Summary
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), under the Department of the Interior, has issued a Solicitation for the demolition of six structures at the Tunison Laboratory of Aquatic Science (TLAS) in Cortland, NY. This requirement, identified by Product Service Code P400 (Demolition Of Buildings), is a Total Small Business Set-Aside. The estimated magnitude of construction is between $100,000 and $250,000. Proposals are due by April 20, 2026, at 12:00 PM Mountain Time.
Scope of Work
The contractor will be responsible for the demolition and disposal of three (3) residential houses (approximately 2000 sq ft each) and three (3) accompanying 1-stall garages located at 3075 Gracie Road, Cortland, NY. The scope includes:
- Removal and disposal of all associated sidewalks, gardens, and yard fixtures.
- Locating, removing, and disposing of underground septic systems and filling in onsite wells.
- Removing and disposing of fuel oil, propane tanks, and any remaining appliances.
- Site remediation to a safe, level grade, followed by seeding with grass. Demolition material such as stone, concrete, or masonry rubble may be buried on-site if compliant with local/state laws; all other materials must be hauled off-site.
- Environmental Considerations: Bidders must assume the presence of lead paint and asbestos. A previous survey confirmed friable and non-friable asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) in one residence (Q2). The government will arrange asbestos investigations for the remaining two residences, but bidders must account for presumed asbestos in the third structure. Compliance with all local and state regulations for demolition, disposal, and environmental hazards is mandatory.
