This document provides responses to vendor questions regarding the Residential Furniture RFI issued by the U.S. Department of State.

• RFI Extension: The RFI due date is February 20, 2026. To request an extension, vendors must email the Department of State Contracting Officer (CO) at CameronCR@state.gov with a specific date and time. Extensions are not guaranteed.
• Attachment A Location: Vendors must use the most up-to-date posting on SAM.gov and avoid using old links or emailed links, as these may not contain the latest information or attachments.
• Acceptable Materials: Laminates (high pressure or printed) are NOT acceptable. Furniture must be constructed with hardwood veneers and solid woods. Specific requirements for tabletops and durable materials for lamps are detailed in Section A of the RFI.
• Scope of Offerings: Respondents are expected to provide furniture in styles outlined in Attachment A for both "House A" (standard size, 3-bedroom) and "House B" (small, compact urban apartment). Vendors should be able to outfit these spaces using Transitional, Contemporary, and Modern furniture styles.
• Submission Requirements: Submitting only a capability statement is insufficient. Vendors must submit the required documents outlined in the RFI, including a completed Attachment A, to be considered an interested vendor and added to the interested party list.

This Q&A clarifies material requirements, attachment access, and submission completeness. Vendors should ensure they are referencing the most current RFI details and providing all specified documentation, including Attachment A, by the February 20, 2026 deadline, unless an extension is formally granted.

• Accessory Pieces: A separate section lists accessory items applicable to any room, including wardrobes, sofa beds, bunk beds, cribs, rugs, lighting, hardware, and safety items like wall anchors.
• Optional Items: Supplementary items like patio furniture and window treatments are listed as non-mandatory.

• Optional Items: A supplementary section lists optional items such as cafe tables, serving carts, lounge chairs, window treatments, and upholstery fabric.

Request for Information (RFI)

This RFI is issued by the U.S. Department of State (DoS) to identify vendors capable of providing high-quality residential furniture and furnishings for the Worldwide Residential Furniture Program. The DoS aims to establish a contract for streamlined, pre-negotiated, repetitive purchases to support mission performance. This is for market research purposes only and not an invitation for bid or request for quotes.

• Product Scope: Commercial residential furniture, including a wide range of items such as beds, chairs, tables, wardrobes, desks, and mattresses.

• Furniture Styles: Vendors must be able to provide furniture in Transitional, Contemporary, and Modern styles for House A, and Minimalist style for House B.

• Quality Standards: Furniture must be high-quality, well-crafted, durable, and easy to maintain. Commercial-grade products must be BIFMA compliant and tested for commercial settings. Specific construction methods (e.g., mortise and tenon), materials (e.g., solid wood, hardwood veneers), and finishes are detailed.

• Technical Specifications: Compliance with numerous federal and industry standards (e.g., ANSI, ASTM, BIFMA, NFPA, UL) and statutes related to furniture safety and materials is required.

• Logistics: Vendors must possess a robust logistics system for packaging, delivery coordination, warehousing, transportation, and consolidation of overseas shipments, including managing high-volume orders and tracking.

• Rush Orders: Capability to fulfill urgent orders within specified timelines is necessary.

• Catalogs: Ability to create and maintain an online catalog with product details, pricing, and fabric swatches.

• Response Deadline: February 20, 2026, by 5 PM EST.

• Submission Format: Electronic PDF via email. Subject line: "WorldWide Residential Furniture Program Insert Respondent Name-".

• Required Information: Cover Letter (vendor details, POC, company size, socioeconomic category, contract numbers, manufacturer/reseller status, website link), Company Background (history, relevant projects, logistics experience), and a review of Attachment A (Product Specification Chart) with proposed product data and any exceptions. Pricing data is to be omitted at this RFI stage.

• Vendors must indicate their company size (Large/Small) and socioeconomic category.

• Products must be entirely from the U.S. or a designated country, or substantially transformed in the U.S. or a designated country.

• This is a Request for Information (RFI) for market research only.
