Quick Summary
This is an Award Notice for the FY26 Wallace Creek BEQ Chiller Repairs project (Project No. 25-0438) at MCB Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. This opportunity, originally a Total Small Business Set-Aside, involved the replacement of six chillers and associated pumps and drives. The estimated cost range for the project was between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000.
Scope of Work
The project required the replacement of six specified chillers (WC105, WC110, WC115, WC120, WC130, WC135) and their associated pumps and drives. Key requirements included a 10-year parts, labor, and refrigerant warranty for new chillers, factory-installed water strainers, GFCI convenience outlets, and heat trace for evaporator and piping. Chillers needed single-point power connection, VFDs for condenser fan motors, specific e-coat and topcoat finishes for corrosion protection, and Microchannel construction for condenser coils. Additional specifications covered louvered guards, seismic feet, thermal dispersion flow switches, phase loss protection, emergency tees, NEMA 3R control panels, and reduction mode for sound on units 75 nominal tons and up. Controls were required to be BACnet/MSTP, monitoring phase loss, over/under voltage, and enabling chillers at 45°F and above. Piping 4" and below was to be copper, and 5" and greater, schedule 40 welded steel, with external piping requiring heat trace and insulation. Amendments clarified that triple duty valves, suction diffusers, and butterfly valves at chilled water pumps were also to be replaced, and new chillers did not require a heat recovery option. Hydronic piping systems also required cleaning and flushing procedures to remove deleterious substances, maintaining specific water temperatures and chemical parameters.
