Quick Summary
The Department of the Air Force, 436 CONS LGC, is soliciting quotes (RFQ FA449726Q0006) for an Inflatable Hangar Door Plug system for Hangar 714 North at Dover AFB, DE. This is a Total Small Business Set-Aside opportunity under NAICS 811310 ($12.5M size standard). The system is specifically designed to create a thermal and weather seal around C-17 aircraft fuselages. Quotes are due by 23 February 2026, 12:00 PM EST.
Scope of Work
The objective is to acquire and install an inflatable hangar door plug system to seal the aperture between hangar doors and a C-17 fuselage, enabling year-round C-17 maintenance operations and protecting infrastructure. The system must be a packable, railed curtain system with a single-body fabric curtain, keder rails on vertical edges, a contoured fuselage cutout with inflatable padding, and non-inflatable fabric areas. It is exclusively for C-17 aircraft, not C-5, and a hybrid inflatable/non-inflatable system is not acceptable. Key performance standards include inflation in under 3 minutes, operation from -22°F to 158°F, resistance to 50 MPH winds, and NFPA 701 fire retardancy. The entire system package must not exceed 85 kg (187 lbs) and specific dimensions for portability and storage. Installation should be performable by two people without specialized training.
