To improve the safety and operational capability rate of the U.S. Army's fleet of 15 conventional diesel locomotives by performing federally mandated periodic safety inspections.

• Perform one (1) periodic safety inspection per locomotive during each 92-day interval, in accordance with 49 CFR Part 229.23.

• Inspections will be conducted on 15 EMD model locomotives located at 7 different Army Rail installations.
