Key Requirements
- Material Specifications: Balls require SAE-AMS-6931 or ASTM-B367 Grade C-5. Seats require MD71-GG Mearthane (Graphite Filled Urethane) from Mearthane Products Inc., Cranston, RI, with specific physical properties.
- Testing & Inspection: Includes hydrostatic testing (or dye penetrant inspection), non-destructive tests, seat stack height measurement, and visual inspection. Confidential hydrostatic test pressures apply.
- Teflon Coating: Must be in accordance with drawing 4384678, general note 4.F, with specific Chemours Company Teflon Coating types acceptable.
- Quality System: Contractors must maintain a quality system in accordance with ISO 9001 (or MIL-I-45208) and calibration system requirements of ISO 10012 or ANSI-Z540.3 with ISO-17025 (or MIL-STD-45662). Only sources with an acceptable Quality Assurance Manual (WSSTERMLZ02) are eligible.
- Traceability & Certification: Strict traceability is required from material to certification test reports, including unique traceability numbers marked on materials (MIL-STD-792). Certificates of Compliance are mandatory for Special Emphasis Material and weld filler metals.
- Welding/Brazing: Adherence to specific standards (S9074-AR-GIB-010A/278, 0900-LP-001-7000, S9074-AQ-GIB-010/248) and submission of procedures and qualification data for approval.
- Configuration Control: Procedures for waivers/deviations and Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) are detailed.
