Quick Summary
The Department of the Air Force (AFLCMC HANSCOM PZI) is conducting a Sources Sought / Request for Information (RFI) for VTC Wiring and Structured Cabling Installation at Hanscom Air Force Base (HAFB), Massachusetts. This RFI seeks Letters of Interest (LOI) from qualified contractors to install structured cabling for four conference rooms and six video teleconference (VTC) kits in Building 1109. This opportunity is a Total Small Business Set-Aside. Questions are due by March 10, 2026, at 1:00 PM ET.
Scope of Work & Key Requirements
The contractor will be responsible for the procurement and installation of structured cabling and ancillary equipment. Key requirements include:
- Cabling: Shielding of cables, running an extra set of cables for redundancy and scalability, and concealment of all wiring (power, network, audio, video) within walls, ceilings, floors, or dedicated conduits/raceways. All cables must be TAA compliant.
- VTC Systems: Procurement and installation of ceiling speakers, acoustic treatment, and all cables for six VTC Room Kits.
- Documentation: Provision of detailed cable routing diagrams and development/maintenance of a comprehensive project plan, including schedule, resource allocation, and weekly status reports.
- Equipment: Procurement of all necessary equipment and materials meeting specified requirements and applicable regulations.
- Installation & Testing: Ensuring all equipment is properly configured, tested, secure, and reliable, installed according to approved design and TEMPEST standards.
- Site Restoration: Restoration of all work areas to original condition, including waste material removal.
Technical Clarifications & Government Furnished Equipment (GFE)
Recent Q&A clarified several technical aspects:
- Fiber Optic Cabling: Each desk requires 4 strands of OM4 multimode fiber, with 2 spares. Fiber will run to a dedicated IDF on each floor, collapsing to the 2nd-floor alcove IDF. The contractor is responsible for procuring and installing fiber optic cables, patch panels, and running trays, as well as mapping fiber runs. Testing applies to fiber optic cables only.
- VTC Components: Table microphones with 3.5mm interface will be used.
- GFE: The government will provide network electronics, SFP transceivers, displays for conference rooms, and VTC cameras.
- Connectivity: The government will provide network connectivity for devices, and contractors will utilize available outlets for power requirements.
