Scope of Work
The contractor will be responsible for manufacturing, testing, and inspecting specialized shipping and storage containers based on Container Research Corporation drawing number (05259) 530E001-501. Key requirements include:
- Material: Aluminum shell.
- Wiring: Use of SAE-AS22759 wire in lieu of MIL-W-81381.
- Standards: Compliance with IPC-J-STD-001 (CLASS 3) and IPC-A-610 (CLASS 3) if MIL-STD-454 is referenced. Welding must adhere to AWS D1.1, D1.2, D1.3, D1.6 standards.
- Finish: Electrodeposited alkaline Zinc-Nickel Alloy (ASTM B 841 Class 1, Type B, Grade 3) instead of Cadmium plating.
- Marking: Unique Identification (UID) marking and serial numbers required on nameplates.
- Tooling: Contractor is responsible for all manufacturing aids (fixtures, jigs, dies, etc.).
Quality Assurance & Testing
- First Article Testing (FAT): Required for new manufacturers, involving one unit of CAGE (05259) Part Number 530E001-501 within 60 days. FAT includes visual/dimensional inspection, initial/final leak tests, an 18-inch free fall drop test, and a form/fit check. The estimated government testing cost is $12,000, which will be added to offeror prices.
- FAT Waiver: Offerors who have previously supplied identical articles accepted by the Government or OEM within three years, using the same production location, may request a waiver.
- Production Testing: 100% production leak test and drop test (18-inch free fall onto concrete) are required.
- Packaging: MIL-STD 2073 packaging applies.
