Extensive maintenance requirements cover:
- Hull Structure: Preservation and repairs to bilges, weather decks, intake/uptake, underwater hull, and decks.
- Propulsion Plant: Repair and preservation of combustion air intakes, exhaust air uptakes, and various valves, motors, and pumps.
- Electric Plant: GTG repairs, cableway inspection, generator support system repairs, and MCT/MCP testing.
- Command and Surveillance: Tank level indicator repairs, IFF antennae repair, array resurfacing, sonar transducer replacement, SLQ-32 and PCMS repair, and MK 82 Director replacement.
- Auxiliary Systems: Insulation/lagging repair, ventilation fan overhaul, A/C plant compressor overhaul, piping system cleaning, HPAC overhaul, anchor windlass repair, and refrigeration plant overhaul.
- Outfit and Furnishings: Interior/exterior preservation, stack repair, hull preservation, and replacement of deck covering and non-skid.
- Armament: Removal, shipping, and replacement of MT 51 gun, CIWS, and RSLs.
- Support Services: Hazardous waste control and temporary air conditioning/lodging.
The prime contractor must provide an integrated production schedule incorporating AIT, 3rd Party contractors, and Government workload. Rough estimates indicate approximately 139,047 man-days for maintenance and 68,024 man-days for modernization.
