Quick Summary
The National Park Service (NPS), under the Department of the Interior, is soliciting proposals for Tree Felling and Brush Clearing Services at the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area in Pike County, PA. This Total Small Business Set-Aside opportunity aims to prepare the Route 209 corridor and McDade Trail for upcoming construction by removing vegetation within established Limits of Disturbance (LOD). The primary objective is to deliver a cleared project area by March 31, 2026, to avoid protected migratory bird and bat-roosting seasons.
Scope of Work
The contractor will be responsible for felling undesignated trees and woody brush within the approved LOD. Specific tasks include cutting woody brush flush with the ground, removing downed timber less than 10 inches DBH off-site, and felling, limbing, and bucking downed timber greater than 10 inches DBH into 10-12 foot sections to be left on-site. Stumps must be cut to 6 inches within the existing grade. Disposal of approved vegetative debris (10 inches DBH or less) must occur off-site, with chips/debris up to 2 inches deep potentially left in place. The work requires strict adherence to environmental protection, including avoiding wetlands and adjacent vegetation, and minimizing impacts to park visitors and traffic along Route 209. All trees for removal will be marked by the contractor and verified by park personnel.
