Scope of Work
The anticipated scope of work for the USS HIGGINS (DDG 76) includes a comprehensive range of repair and maintenance tasks, known as Task Group Instructions (TGIs). Key areas of work involve:
- Inspection, repair, and preservation in various bilge areas, foundations (e.g., Gas Turbine Generator, Halon Fire Extinguisher), and internal compartments (e.g., VCHT Rooms, Escape Trunk).
- Cleaning, assessment, and repair of Potable Water Tanks, Sewage Collection Tanks, Plumbing Waste Drain Tanks, Cofferdams, and Waste Water Drain Collecting Tanks.
- Structural work such as removal and installation of deck plates and bulkhead plates.
- System-specific repairs including the FWD Gas Turbine Module (GTM) and Gas Turbine Generator (GTG) Boundary Layer Infra-Red Suppression System (BLISS) Cap.
- Deck and surface maintenance including inspection and replacement of Aircraft Securing Fittings and Nonskid Systems on the Flight Deck and Forecastle, and replacement of Deck Covering.
- HVAC-related maintenance such as inspection and preservation of Air Intake and Uptake Louvers.
- Piping system maintenance including chemical cleaning of the Vacuum, Collection, Holding and Transfer (VCHT) Piping System.
All work will be performed onboard Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka (CFAY), Yokosuka Naval Base, Japan.
