Quick Summary
The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), on behalf of the Department of War (DoW), has issued a Request for Information (RFI) for Virtualization Enterprise Software Solutions. This RFI seeks to identify qualified sources capable of providing a standardized, enterprise-scalable virtualization software solution, including sustainment, upgrades, and technical support services, to establish a centralized and cost-effective procurement vehicle. This is for market research only and is not a solicitation. Responses are due May 4, 2026, at 10:00 AM CST.
Scope of Work
DISA is seeking solutions that encompass:
- Core Platform Capabilities: Full/paravirtualization, live migration, unified management, VM-centric disaster recovery (snapshots, clones, replication, granular recovery), application/data virtualization, and remote/automated management with REST API.
- Management, Analytics, and Security: Advanced threat detection, Secure Boot, shielded VMs, AI-driven security, asset management across distributed networks, network management (SD-WAN, web/email security), 1-year logging retention, real-time analytics, and performance/capacity forecasting.
- Security, Compliance, and Workforce Enablement: Solutions must meet DoW Impact Level 5 (IL5) certification with a roadmap to IL6, and support two-factor authentication via SAML 2.0/OIDC for E-ICAM integration. Comprehensive training programs are also required.
- Migration Plan: A detailed plan for migrating from the current VMware environment, leveraging AI for automation and minimizing disruption. The DoW's current environment supports approximately 700,000 cores across CONUS and OCONUS locations, multiple security domains, and classification levels.
