• Bollard Installation: Bollards must be set 9' into the pier. An 18" diameter bore is acceptable for the 12" bollard below the top 12" of repair.
• Rebar Specification: All rebar is to be hot-dipped galvanized (HDG) per Sheet G1. Epoxy notes refer to the embedding method, not epoxy-coated rebar.
• Sinkhole Excavation Depth: Excavation for sinkholes should not exceed 10' depth, unless otherwise agreed in the field. The 10' limit includes conditions for repairing settlement in asphalt.
• Sinkhole Soil Reuse: Excavated soils can be reused as backfill if separated by filter fabric and compacted, or if not used below 24" of existing grade. Contamination is not currently known.
• Concrete Repair Specifications: Section 03 30 00 (Cast-in-Place Concrete) is acceptable for surface-level repairs not in constant seawater contact. Section 03 31 30 (Marine Concrete) is required for underdeck and pier edge repairs.
• Shotcrete/Deck Cutting: Shotcrete is not approved. Cutting or drilling holes in the concrete deck for depositing concrete is also not approved.
• Bollard Replacements: Only 2 bollards require replacement, located adjacent to the Cassin Young. Vault 12 requires only a cleat replacement.
