Scope of Work
This project involves the removal and replacement of an existing 48-inch culvert and headwalls with a new double barrel 48-inch culvert (consisting of two 48-foot runs of 48-inch Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP)) and new precast concrete headwalls at the Verona Loop Training Area on Steel Tower Road. Key tasks include:
- Demolition of approximately 1000 square feet of 18-inch thick concrete roadway.
- Removal of existing 48-inch corrugated metal pipe and rip-rap.
- Installation of 96 linear feet of new 48-inch RCP and NCDOT-compliant concrete headwalls.
- Backfilling with stabilized rip-rap, geotextile, and Aggregate Base Course (ABC) compacted to 95% density.
- Seeding and permanent vegetative cover for disturbed areas.
- De-watering of the stream section for concrete work.
Operations must minimize interference with ongoing facility activities, and the road will be closed during construction. One person may fulfill the roles of Superintendent, Quality Control Manager, and Safety & Health Officer if qualified. The new concrete roadway will not receive steel reinforcement.
