Quick Summary
The Kansas National Guard is soliciting proposals for the B35 Critical Loop project, involving the installation of a critical electrical line to Building 35's communications room at McConnell Air Force Base, Wichita, Kansas. This 100% Total Small Business Set-Aside opportunity aims to ensure continuous power to the communications node during outages. Proposals are due March 12, 2026.
Scope of Work
The project requires the installation of a critical electrical line to Building 35, powered from Building 16's critical loop. Key tasks include:
- Horizontal Directional Drilling: Approximately 600 linear feet of 4" conduit from C2SG to Building 35. Boring is required under roads/sidewalks; hydrovac trenching with concrete encasing in grassy areas.
- Transformer Installation: Furnish and install a new 75 KVA, 12470V Delta to 120/208 3-phase, 150 amp transformer at Building 35, with a 4000 psi reinforced concrete pad. The contractor is responsible for providing the transformer.
- Utility Vault: Install a 6x6x6' precast utility vault midway between C2SG and Building 35.
- Electrical Wiring: Pull Number 2 AWG 15KV tape shield wire (VLF tested) through conduit, terminating at the new transformer and connecting to a vacant switch at C2SG. Pull 4/O wire from the transformer secondary to a disconnect and transfer switch inside the communications room.
- Coordination: Contractor must coordinate power switch-over with base personnel, providing 30 days' notice.
