Scope of Work

This project encompasses several key airfield maintenance tasks:

  • Rubber Removal: Removal of rubber from runways 30 and 12 (approximately 420,000 sq ft).
  • Pavement Markings: Striping new instrument control and wing tip clearance lines (yellow and black, 15,000 sq ft). This includes removing and replacing aircraft arresting cables as needed, and removing/replacing markings on taxiways, parking aprons, and flightline roads. Specific instructions are provided for relocating apron edge markings, modifying towway lines, painting row numbers, and adding wingtip clearance and INST Hold Lines.
  • Crack Repair: Seal and repair cracks in asphalt shoulders adjacent to Taxiway Alpha "A" and the Alpha Arm/Dearm Pad. Cracks 1/4" to 1" wide will use backer rod, while cracks 1" and greater will follow UFGS 32-01-17.61. This also includes cleaning existing cracks of vegetation, dirt, and debris, and filling larger cracks with backup material and sand, applying herbicide prior to sealing.
  • Optional Services (Bid Options):
    • Option 1: Markings on LOLA C & D (yellow and black, 15,000 sq ft), and cleaning/sealing cracks on LOLA C (50,000 lf for 1/4"-1 3/4" cracks, 5,000 lf for 1 3/4"-4" cracks).
    • Option 2: Removing and restriping apron edge lines (52,500 sq ft yellow and black, 25,500 sq ft), and removing/restriping various lines such as AGE Boxes, tow lines, and parking lines (6,000 sq ft).

Site Visit & Special Requirements

  • Coordination: All work, especially on the Alpha arm/dearm pads, must be coordinated in advance (two weeks for non-flying hours, seven days for Taxiway Alpha shoulders). The airfield will remain operational.
  • Personnel & Access: Contractor personnel must attend the Airfield Drivers course, adhere to base rules, and obtain airfield access approval (EAL) separate from base access (SF-30). Qualified personnel for key roles (Superintendent, QC Manager, SSHO) are required.
  • Bonds & Payments: Performance and Payment Bonds are required. Electronic submission of payment requests via Wide Area WorkFlow (WAWF) is mandatory.
  • FOD Prevention: Contractor must ensure all debris is removed daily to prevent Foreign Object Damage (FOD).
